Our mission is simple:
To provide a unique jungle experience and welcome retreat from the hectic pace of the modern world.
Osa Clandestina was founded in 1998, after a surf trip in search of a rumor of a wave, led us to this magical spot and its mystical point breaks. At the very tip of the Osa Peninsula, we’ve built something rare: a place where you can step off the grid and connect with raw, untamed nature — without losing the comforts of home.
Today, Osa Clandestina has evolved into an intimate jungle lodge dedicated to regenerative hospitality, tucked inside 34 hectares of rainforest at the edge of Playa Pan Dulce — a place where soul surfers, friends, families, and groups can come together, reconnect with nature, good food, and each other. By providing a comfortable and serene place to sleep, eat and relax, you can wrap yourself in the comfort of doing as much or as little as you want.
“Estas en tu casa”
as the dicho goes.
So be at ease. Comfortable, customer service that’s efficient, not officious, keeping an eye to details that make you feel seen.
The Osa is a magical place, with a spirit of Nature so abundant and powerful. Many of our guest call Clandestina their jungle home, returning year after year, and that is what ultimately we strive to be—a place where you feel at home in this magnificent setting, relaxed and yet full of energy to indulge in all the splendor the jungle has to offer.
Sustainability &
Regenerative living
When you stay at Clandestina you are step into a lifestyle dedicated to conservation and sustainability flavored with the artisanal flare of the Osa — from the food on your plate to the way we live in symbiosis with the land.
Our commitment goes beyond food. We build all our furniture with sustainably harvested local hardwoods, we use VOC free paints and non toxic materials, natural latex mattresses and organic cotton bedding, provide biodegradable bath products to protect the watershed. and all of it powered by the sun via our off grid solar system. Thousands of native trees and pollinator-friendly plants have been planted across the property, creating habitat and strengthening biodiversity.
Being off-grid means we generate our own solar power, source pure spring water, and work closely with the land that surrounds us.
Much of what we serve at the lodge comes directly from our sister farm Punta Tigre. We grow our own rice, raise and age our own beef, make our own guanciale and sausages, harvest fresh eggs and fryers, make merguez from our own lamb, and cheese from our cows and goats, all while promoting a regenerative pasture. All organic, humanely raised, and with workers who are equitably paid and empowered. We value the people who do the work.
Conservation & community
What makes Clandestina unique is not only our setting or sustainability practices, it’s that plus the community, which is one of surfers, conservationists, artists, activists, and scientists who are committed to an equitable, regenerative future for all. We are deeply committed to supporting and developing conservation initiatives, as well as funding community- driven non-profit projects that help preserve the Osa’s unique flora and fauna.
To truly understand sustainability, one must be immersed in a place where the origins of food, energy, and water are detailed. We invite all who stay with us to recognize these links — because everything is connected. And when awareness shifts, so can our actions towards a more regenerative future.
